Larger conversations around what craft means in the world of contemporary making are changing. In turn, organizations with a commitment to exposing diverse audiences to craft have had to shift the way they frame conversations around interpreting the diversity of contemporary practice as well as how we engage with the history of the field for contemporary ends. As a former curator at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, where she developed the museum’s first curatorial program and a dedicated gallery for contemporary decorative arts, and the current Editor of Metalsmith magazine, Emily Zilber will talk about how these conversations take shape, whether in the gallery or in print.
