With an undying love for nature and its respective curiosities, there are few things Tyler Thrasher’s brain isn’t obsessing over. Between his pursuits to crystallize the world, opalize everything, and hunt down some of the realm’s most unique plants, his passion to combine art and science every step of the way is his fire and fuel.

Self-described “mad scientist” Tyler connected with several entomologists to gather the scorpion and cicada bodies needed to create crystallized insects. This body of work explores the idea of combining molecular geometry and crystalline structures with organic surfaces as an homage to ancient and esoteric alchemy.

Moonbeam Flora are plants that Tyler has cut, bleached, dried, preserved, and finally coated in a next-generation, phosphorescent mineral powder. In the light, the bleached plants appear as a ghostly white, but when the lights are off they become a mesmerizing, luminous blue. The glow emitted is 10x brighter than traditional glow-in-the-dark materials and can last for up to 30 hours per “charge”.

Moonbeam Flora can charge in ambient light, bright sunlight, or even a shady area with indirect light. Its ability to glow will continue for a minimum of 20 years! Each piece is also sealed with UV protecting, color protecting, and moisture resistant coating to help enhance the durability and longevity of each piece.

No special care is required—just don’t stomp your Moonbeam Flora, please.
