108|Contemporary presents the work of Austin Navrkal in Earth, Sky, and Water on view October 2 – November 21, 2026. Austin Navrkal’s work is inspired by various natural phenomena, depicting dynamic and tranquil characteristics of color and form found within sunrises and sets, cloud formations, flow of rivers and wave formations. His sculptures express the idea of process and journey. There is a relationship he shares with each piece as it is created, his work encounters predictable and unexpected situations giving them unique characteristics through the process. In noticing these qualities of a sculpture he is able to self-reflect and contemplate on the moments that have shaped him.

About Austin Navrkal:
Austin Navrkal grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He would go on to attend Oklahoma State University, where he earned a Bachelor’s of Arts degree. During his time at OSU he would find inspiration in his future mentor, Brandon Reese. Navrkal would gain a passion for art and following graduation he would continue working alongside Reese. His continual presence in the studio earned him a position as the Ceramic Studio Technician at Oklahoma State. Here he learned to become proficient working in ceramics and accenting his work with steel and wood.
Following working with Reese and as a Studio Technician, Navrkal pursued his graduate degree. Earning his Master of Fine Arts at the University of Montana, in Missoula, he would study under ceramic artists Trey Hill and Julia Galloway. After graduation he earned an Adjunct Faculty Position in Ceramics at OSU, which would lead into becoming the Lab Coordinator at OSU where he teaches and supervises the Art Department’s studio’s and equipment. Navrkal is currently working to grow his studio practice as an emerging artist. Being a part of numerous exhibitions throughout Oklahoma and Montana; exhibiting at the Philbrook Museum, Tulsa Artist Coalition, Individual Artists of Oklahoma, Allied Arts, Edmond Fine Arts, Oklahoma Visual Arts Coalition, Zootown Art Community Center in Missoula, Clay Studio of Missoula, and being in the permanent collect of the Montana Museum of Art and Culture at the University of Montana.
