Clayton Keyes Artist Statement:

I am a native Tulsan. I attended the University of Oklahoma for my BFA in 3D Art and earned  my MFA in Ceramics in 2011, from the University of Tulsa. Over the intervening years, I have  been a professor of Art in ceramics and sculpture in Reno, NV, Salt Lake City, Utah, and Tahlequah, Oklahoma. I have provided workshops and demonstrations across the United  States, at colleges, universities, conferences, and community studios.

Since 2009, my work has focused on portraying the notion of environmental legacy. For many  years, I have held deep concern for the environment and have therefore sought methods  within my work, to try to connect and communicate these ideas to the viewer. Historically, I  have attempted to do so through a melancholic approach to human figurative sculpture. More  recently, I have chosen to depict the beauty of natural objects, flora, and fauna, concentrating on  a sense of beauty and drama to get across my message.
