February 2 - March 24, 2024, Wednesday - Sunday | 12:00 - 5:00 pm
108|Contemporary is proud to start off our 2024 year of exhibitions focusing on Oklahoma artists with Cynthia Marcoux: Beaded Memories. On view from February 2 – March 24, 2024, this exhibition is a collection of items that have been transformed with beads into long lasting gem-like tributes to Marcoux’s childhood. Join us for the opening of this solo exhibition on Friday, February 2, 2024 from 6:00 – 9:00 pm with an accompanying live performance by local musician Kalyn Fay.
Cynthia Marcoux is an Oklahoma artist who has resided in Tulsa most of her life. She graduated from Oklahoma State University with a BA in Art, and worked at the Tulsa Zoo as an artist and photographer for 28 years. She currently works as a free-lance art handler for local galleries and museums.
Working in realism, Marcoux’s disciplines include mixed media, colored pencil, graphite, photography, and beading. Her works have been shown at numerous venues in Tulsa and the southwest. The work in Beaded Memories uses a technique inspired by 20th-century Huichol art, which allows for threadless beading.
To learn more from the artist herself, join us for an Artist Talk with Cynthia Marcoux on Thursday, February 22, 2024 at 5:30 pm in the exhibition space. Doors open at 5:00 pm. ASL interpretation will be provided. This event and exhibition are free and open to the public.
