In conjunction with ahha Tulsa and the upcoming exhibition Amanda McCavour: Diaphanous Embroidery (August 3 – September 23, 2018) register today to learn how to use your sewing machine in a whole new way in this one-day workshop!
This workshop focuses on constructing dynamic, textured, mixed media surfaces with machine embroidery and water-soluble stabilizer. Explore embroidery using the machine to create expressive line. Students are encouraged to experiment with an assortment of materials like plastics, papers, and yarns to create a variety of samples to discover different texture and color combinations. Free motion embroidery techniques are covered along with collage. The workshop includes a discussion of contemporary artists working with stitch, installation and drawing. This class is open to students of all levels. If you can sew a straight (or curved) line with a sewing machine, you have all the skills you need for this class!
